Now if it was an audiobook narrated by someone that's actually entertaining to listen to, with normal-person language, sure. I've been meaning to get around to listening to Jon Moxley's memoir. But sitting there with a paperback reading some pretentious mumbo-jumbo mired in so much symbolism that any meaning you'd hope to get from it is lost in translation just doesn't appeal to me.

i think the implication behind porc's comment is that the real mEaNinG here is you making healthy use of your attention span and benchpressing those comprehension skills (which on a "normal-person" level should ideally extend well beyond artlessly straightforward language you can do it can you do it)

Nah you can have your boring paperbacks written in Shakespearean Ye-Old English.
It's not the most "profound" language but lets be honest...when you're in that mindset you're hardly thinking about picking up a damn thesaurus. the direct approach works here. this is like getting mad at Geoff Rickly for his lyrics on songs like "Paris in Flames", which btw, is about him being gay.

Oh boy that normal people language and paint dry comment have made things hard for me to take anything you say seriously now.
"But sitting there with a paperback reading some pretentious mumbo-jumbo mired in so much symbolism that any meaning you'd hope to get from it is lost in translation just doesn't appeal to me."
Then i re-read this: oh boy theres no way to say this but you need to revisit books because they will teach you a lot about language and how to express yourself more elequontly and undersyand lyrics/art/concepts presented in art on a deeper level. Read things you dont agree with, books from a foreign perspective to your lived experience.
Esit: ignore my slab, i have lost faith and all respect has gone out the window for Venin...

You are correct that this album is massively overrated, but it's more mid than awful (I would respect any rating between 1.5 and 3). Reviews like this are pretentious as hell and show an attitude stuck in the mid 2000's early internet days.
