Make Me Forget You is an all timer Converge track.

definitely. still I just HATE that they keep teasing at those atmospheric stuffs. The ending of make me forget you really scratched that Eve itch for me damn

On my first listen of the new one, accidently had shuffle on and got a hint of a heavy sludgey track

Gilded cage feels like the weakest track so far but also the most experimental of the album

I actually am pleasantly surprised at how cohesive this is. I was expecting something more like a collection of barnburners like Beautiful Ruin but this has a lot more structure and dynamics than I expected out of a 30-min album.

Production is fucking immaculate and it is especially perfect there. Incredible track.
I was a little worried when I heard such a short record would have an instrumental but Beyond Repair really perfectly sets the stage for the back half of the record.
It really is such a cool dichotomy, the first half is just a fucking barnburner before the back half slows it down a bit and demolishes it.
First and second listen down… by no means my favorite Converge but this is pretty much exactly what I wanted coming off the heels of Bloodmoon. Hopefully they got more in the tank and hopefully the wait won’t be so long before we get more.
All I got left to say is that Kurt is a god and lyrically this is the best Jacob has been in a while, like since AWLWB at least, maybe even You Fail Me. He’s on a fucking warpath here. Nate sounds great too, and the gang vocals are just incredible.
Amazing record. Looking forward to more listens over the weekend.

In some ways im dissapointed by it because it feels very safe? But on the other hand this is like a class reminder or lesson for modern hardcore/mathcore of what the genre it is at its heart
Holy fuck that bridge in Make me forget

I get that. Disappointed would be the wrong word for me… it’s still really fucking good but it is for sure true that there’s not a ton of moments that feel unique to this record. But god, some of Kurt’s leads are buck ass wild. We Were Never the Same and the title track were just a taste, this thing is littered with them

@Wild i think you will like my updated soundoff on the new one. Its still a great album but its also kind of leaving me wanting something more in a way ?

The way I see it is that it’s better to leave em wanting more than to overstay your welcome. I think there’s a couple of tracks here that could’ve been cut, and even Dusk has some moments that could’ve been trimmed.
Like I said before the record even dropped, I know AT LEAST Ben, maybe Jacob too idk, said they had like 20 songs written but only 10 made the cut, with that much content written hopefully they’ll use some of those ideas on whatever comes next or maybe even dropping a b side compilation like Unloved & Weeded Out or Beautiful Ruin.
Really, REALLY, hoping for a faster turnaround. This record is gonna be 5 years old and Dusk is almost 9. I know they’re getting older but man, that’s such a long time between albums. I mean ffs I just graduated high school when Dusk dropped and I’m damn near 30 now.

For sure, but I honestly don’t think they have anything like that written. I feel like if they did it would’ve made its way onto the album considering how blistering the whole thing is. Really the only breathers are Beyond Repair and the first half or so of Gilded Cage, and the transition between the final two tracks, I guess. Which is honestly so well done, those two almost feel like one long song. I’m such a slut for songs that transition so smoothly and very few bands do it as well as these guys.

New album is decent enough. Yeah, I understand the yearning for something a little different but it's a solid addition to their catalogue and considering I wasn't totally on board with this iteration of their sound, or head-over-heels for Dusk, this result is fine by me.
Make Me Forget You is a definite standout (3).

The new record is probably the most aggressive album i have enjoyed since Thou's last record. It will probably remain the only angry/pissed off record from this year I will sort of like as well. Its a good record but my time with this kind of hardcore is pretty much up.
And if anyone asks "whyd you listen to it then?" Simple because its Converge
