Glad to see a minor re-assessment. I thought this album was wonderful, Rody sounds good, the instrumentals are great and varied, they swang a bit for the fences again with the overall theme.

Kinda surprised nothing has been announced regarding another release. I could've sworn that they said that Palimpsest only took so long because of Rody's voice issues, and that they were already a decent ways into their next LP circa 2021

I love Rody but homies voice is shot. They seem to have a really good time at their shows and ppl seem to still enjoy seeing them but I definitely wouldn't be going to try and hear a reproduction of the album material.
Even shortly after Palimpsest released Rody recorded a sing-thru of all hands and even in a perfectly controlled environment just singing at home and being able to do multiple takes and shit it was pretty iffy. Also with their lineup anymore they kind of are heavily a studio band, I'm pretty sure Luke is only playing on recordings now right? And Rody is like the only OG member up there with a bunch of old friends of the band and ppl from other bands filling in slots. I haven't seen them since Arif was still in the band, damn.

I mean, Mike's voice definitely isn't shot. I think the Baca bros are kind of fuckheads, or at least one of them, and I wonder how much inner turmoil goes on between the members over his weird pattern of bullshit on the internet and the dumbass ideologies he regurgitates/seems to get behind. It's just weird when a band like that can't even be like hey guys sorry the album is taking forever, we're still a band it's just a been a difficult process for reasons etc, it really just adds to the idea that something fucky and untoward is going on.
At least we get some new Last Chance to Reason in the meantime and Mike is still doing some shit.
When I saw them for the Exoplanet/Language tour I went to the Q&A where they played 2 new completed tracks for everyone and chatted a bit and Mike did *most* of the talking and seemed like a really solid fellow, Cameron and Jordan did a bit of talking as well, the Baca bros were like entirely silent. had to be like 2.5 yrs ago now at least

Yeah idk, having 2 completed songs that you're showing people and following it with years of radio silence is not rly the move if you want people to think you're an active band/maintain interest. Their last full length release is 8 yrs old and they've given us no inkling as to when and if there will be a follow up, that's a dead/inactive band in my eyes until I see otherwise. In the meantime everyone should check that LCTR EP though.
