Modern metal fans for whatever reason think hating hard rock is cool (I.e. the 70’s influence early maiden had)

It's not bad at all, and still in their golden era, but it just doesn't quite stack up quite as well as Number of the Beast through Seventh Son for me. Gotta give it some more listens though.

Definitely not as complex a record as just about everything that came after it, but 100% this is a time capsule of Maiden when they didn't take themselves too seriously and just wanted to have FUN. Album is punk as hell

I’ll say mine was probably Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath or Dio maaaybe. I was more of a hard rock kid so I had AC/DC, Van Halen, Rush, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick etc. first (thanks mom and dad)
Motörhead and Maiden changed the game for me though

Gotta check out Motorhead at some point. Same with Dio and Alice Cooper. AiC, Rush, and BS are all-timers.

They have an album for everyone. im a huge fan of Bomber (gritty blues vibe), Another Perfect Day (super melodic and great solos) and some of their later-days output like Aftershock (a microcosm of their entire career).
|
| |
Definitely love 70’s MH but I have a soft spot for Another Perfect Day because Dancing On Your Grave is one of my favs

Same on checking out Motorhead more thoroughly. I've heard a smattering of their albums but their discography is so extensive it's kind of intimidating.

Back at the Funny Farm and Shine are also incredible, the whole thing is goated.
You cant go wrong with everything from 1977 to 1991 imo, its hit or miss after that. They have some gems here and there, like aforementioned Aftershock which came out very late in their career in 2013.
