RIOT is the only Paramore album I've been strong enough to complete in its entirety.

I lied. Apparently I got through THIS IS WHY and gave it a rather stunning 1.5.

First single slapped, The News was p good, literally everything else on the album was boring as hell or pretty bad, I think I spun it twice and never went back, really big letdown after some buildup of hype.
I really enjoy After Laughter tho.

I was thinking there's no way that's the guy from mWY on "No Friends" but it sounds just like him, so I checked the credits and it actually IS him. Wow. Maybe I'll remember his name is Aaron Weiss now. Props for having such a recognisable "brand" or something, very distinctive
as for the album, I am certainly liking this iteration of their sound. The hooks are mostly present and there's a decent balance between energy and steadier introspection, even if the tempo is a bit more restrained vs some of their older work(s)

ah right this gooooooes, giving it a bump
not quite BNE (which is pushing a 4) but there's enough juice in these ripe fruits to keep me well-nourished. Some infectious bops here

Yeah I remember googling the Weiss thing as soon as i heard it, he's unmistakable, such a peak vocalist.

You see a floodlit form
I see a shirt design
I’m no savior of yours
and you’re no friend of mine

okay, this IS their best after all. Colour me surprised! The consistency shines through
BNE brings significant highs and the S/T threatened to do the same (ish) but we have a winner
and how did they go from this to Why oh bloody Why?

Hell yeah borther.
And yeah idk, they rly forgot to have fun on the new album it feels like, outside of title track which do slap decently.

when did I give this a 4? (okay, "June 3rd 2025" seemingly, lol)
still, there's a lot to like here. Surprisingly enduring for how much of a novelty I thought this would end up being (to myself), initially. BNE goes hard but I never listen to it in full and I have to actively skip 'Only Exception', so this is the deserved winner.

I also thought this would be something of a novelty initially but it remains my 2nd favorite Paramore record behind only Brand New Eyes (and I never skip The Only Exception; one of the best songs on the album for me).

I’ve heard that song too often out of context, unfortunately.
Yeah, this is great lil pop record that plays on its strengths of delivering strong hooks and relatable lyricism that (weirdly) hold-up in a way that certainly doesn’t feel like novelty
