"Very little substance holds it down, and the things that can be enjoyed are cut off far too quickly before they may actually develop. The instrumental content is down by the wayside, not to mention Justin's consistently abysmal vocal deliveries/autotune shenanigans and a decline in lyrical content"

Sums it up pretty well

I wish the album closer was as strong as some of his previous closers but the outro to Sh'dia is pure bliss so it balances out a little

The lyrics are definitely my favorite part of that one, just hasn't hit me the same way Re:stacks or Beth do

Considering I really didn’t like 22 I’m enjoying this a fair bit. Still hate U Man Like though.

A little more than halfway through i, i and what I can say so far is:

(1) This retains the "radiohead of folk" experimentation that I look forward to every time from Mr. Vernon, and,

(2) The melodies are kind of irritating, like they're overly cheery or meant for children or something. Can't quite pinpoint the feeling and I also might be wrong.

Yeah, I am never expecting anything decent from Bon Iver again. Gonna go jam For Emma.

Album is garbage and any melody that does exist is just basic “big tent festival indie pop” bullshit

Slex isn't far from the truth there, to be honest. It IS watered-down indie pop.

I find it mostly a continuation of this, for better or for worse. Interesting that this is a 5 for you but the newest effort is lacking. Oddly enough I found it a bit more palatable, for whatever that's worth.

22, A Million went all out in the weird electronic style and the melodies felt subtle, cryptic, and like part of some complicated alternate reality

Here, it's a little too much more of the same (still awesome though) while the melodies feel a tad kitschy. Feeling a strong 4 to a light 4.5.
