Given the circumstances this couldn’t have been better. True art.

Died two years ago today. Remember hearing it about 7.40am on the train commute to London and was in shock.

Listening to Prettiest Star at the moment, still miss him somehow.

Heathen is excellent and underrated. The opener is one of his best songs.

I like Heathen and Outside but definitely don't think I'd recommend them for someone just delving into Bowie.

Heathen, Outside, The Next Day, and this are his essentials after Let's Dance.

To begin jamming Bowie one should start with Space Oddity and go chronologically from there. The StS, Low, and Heroes trifecta are his three best imo

Would say Scary Monsters is his best and a great starting point if the Berlin trilogy seems daunting

Man I remember the day this came out, I couldn't drive yet so my dad drove me straight to the record shop so we could buy this album when my final class ended.

First time I received news of his death was right before my first period began and a friend told me about. First thoughts was that he was joking and even after getting confirmation of his death by searching it up, I was pretty much in denial for a bit... sad day.

I was texting a friend abroad about how good this album once whilst I browsed the news and found out. It seemed unbelievable, really.

that thing with your dad and the record store is sweet. i hopped on this 4chan audio stream thing and everybody was in this chat while his songs were playin. everybody was typing along to the lyrics and being good hearted.

I had been listening to this album on repeat for a week or two prior to it's actual release and I came home one day and my roommate said "Did you hear about David Bowie?" "Don't tell me he died or something" I replied in a super sarcastic tone. Yep. He did. ;-;

This is closer to a 4 tbh; Sue and Girl Loves Me don't do much for me, but the rest is either great or amazing, and it's such a unique album overall.

Agreed and I feel like those songs don't tie in as strongly to the album theme.
