Good News is about on par with Long Drive for me, at the moment I'd put Good News juuuust a shade higher but both are still damn great albums

What midsection? The only slightly weaker section is tracks 9-11 and even those are all pretty great songs. And even those serve as a nice breather after the triple whammy of tracks 6-8.

Long distance is the weakest, good call. I dunno about replacing it with sedan though

long distance drunk isn't amazing as a stand alone drunk but i love the way it provides a respite in the context of the album

“Long Distance Drunk” isn’t amazing as a piece of songwriting but I still get some novelty enjoyment out of it.



“Out of Gas” in and of itself is better but it kinda sounds a bit too much like “Heart Cooks Brain” to me, the only sort of redundant moment on the album.

For me the weakness of this album - and why it's mos def worse than 'Moon' - is the second half is a bit too scrappy and far weaker than the first half.



I also prob prefer both halves of 'Moon' to the first half of this. 'Side B' of 'Moon' is an absolute jaw dropper



'Stars'/'Paper Thin'/'Lives'/'Life Like Weeds' - might all deserve top 20 Modest Mouse song billings

i've been back and forth on which one i like more, but i think at this point its moon because of its cohesion and flow. b-side is incredible agreed
