"at least he doesn't worship some bubblegum pop star."

see i don't know anyone who either literally or figuratively worships a bubblegum pop star but i presume you're talking about lil wayne which is pretty funny cuz while yes he is a pop star he's definitely not "bubblegum" in the sense that early britney spears or w/e are. i don't actually think you know what youre talking about!

it's actually hard to tell if youre a troll or not because your taste/opinions/posts are so hilariously manufactured and shallow that you could definitely be mistaken for one of those "sputnik incarnate" or "couldwinarabbit" style trolls.

"there was really no need for you to write a damn essay about everything you find wrong with him."

i think there was. and since i'm clearly superior to you my opinion is probably the more valid one

"because your taste/opinions/posts are so hilariously manufactured and shallow"

says the guy who gave a 5 to a lil wayne album. my tastes are manufactured? lil wayne is quite possibly the most mainstream musician in existence right now, other than maybe justin bieber.

he's definitely not "bubblegum"

obviously i realize that an individual critic's opinion on something doesn't make it fact, but watch this review, even he calls it bubblegum pop. at least just see where i'm coming from, it's not like i'm the only person who thinks this.

nah i've read plenty of negative reviews of this album a lot of which i agree with but this guy is an idiot.

this album is not good because wayne doesn't sound excited. his metaphors sound forced (like the part about being sick and needing meds ugh so bad) and his beat selection is pretty wack.

but this guy dislikes wayne because he already decided that he disliked him before he listened. and that's bullshit. it's not how you review music and it's not honest. lil wayne has never and will never be "bubblegum pop" and someone using that as a reason for disliking him is trying way too hard. there are plenty of reasons to dislike the album. in parts it actually sounds like what stupid people were saying sucked about the carter 3.

if you watch the needledrop, stop immediately. he's like poison.

shit like this: "lil wayne is quite possibly the most mainstream musician in existence right now, other than maybe justin bieber."

makes me think youre a troll. you sound like a 13 yr old kid who just discovered NMH and smirks whenever a friend mentions anyone who more than a million people have heard of

kind of ironic since you've 5'd radiohead, converge, AND godspeed. it doesn't get much more sputnik than that.

the pfork review of C4 is really really good i suggest you guys read it. it's a legit lukewarm review (and p4k really likes lil wayne) that i think covers what makes it disappointing.

ryan dombal is a really good rap critic, i'd suggest reading a lot of his reviews.

also sean fennessy or however you spell it hes pretty good.

sometimes i feel like p4k tries too hard to fit their ratings quota but they when they get it right its interesting

oh you're still on this? jesus

radiohead converge and godspeed aren't sputnik bands though they're highly acclaimed in pretty much all circles ( i mean within reason; you wouldnt go to a christina aguilera fan forum and talk about jacob bannon but like within the hxc community converge is lauded etc)

i already read the pitchfork review.

"you sound like a 13 yr old kid who just discovered NMH and smirks whenever a friend mentions anyone who more than a million people have heard of"

dude panic at the disco is one of my favorite bands. i don't hate lil wayne because he's mainstream, i hate him because it's some of the most shallow, hedonistic and disposable music i've ever heard. i only brought up his popularity because i thought it was ironic that you said my tastes are "manufactured" when you listen to someone like lil wayne.

i listen to lil wayne cuz he's a good rapper. he's got a quick mind and he was inventive in a way no one was at the time. if you think all his music is "shallow" and "hedonistic" then you haven't listened to enough because you've just heard what is manufactured.

da drought 3, dedication 2 and the prefix are the three best mixtapes i've ever heard and rank up there with some of the best rap ive ever heard. the prefix is just him spitting fire over some beats from the black album and it's really just good rapping.

and i dont understand the manufactured thing. i obviously know a lot about lil wayne and have taken my time to explore his huge and pretty rewarding discography so it's clearly not at all manufactured? i used to be a wayne hater before a friend of mine showed me "tha mobb" and then i was like woah this guy can spit.
