I love all the incessant screaming Corey does here... like he can’t go five seconds without an ARGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

They're not as good as the ones on the first two, but some of those screams are pretty top notch, mainly on "The Blister Exists" and "Vermilion."

He blew his vox out in-between IOWA and Vol. 3 when he was touring with Stone Sour.

I believe he was at the height of his alcoholism and just shredded his chords.

Forced him to switch to that yell.

His cleans on Vol III are fine, his harsh vocals there on the other hand sound like he's withholding a huge dump.

To be fair, his style of doing harsh vocals is different from almost any other harsh vocalist in the business and must take a huge toll on the vocal chords. It's not a death grunt or growl, a black screech nor it is a thrash shout or a hardcore roar. His way of screaming is more like going completely berserk behind the mic like a person who's going into an almost inhuman fit of rage. I don't know if it is, but it almost feels technique-less...

His cleans were definitely best on Vol 3. The way his voice sounded so big yet raw on songs like Circle and Verm Pt 2...fuck I miss that. Now his cleans always sound so compressed and processed.

The "I'm not gonna make it" from Duality is literally the only thing close to the brutality and intensity of the s/t and this, vocal-wise. The rest of Vol. 3 sounds like someone's got Corey by the balls and squeezing hard.

I think he's got some degree of technique, otherwise he would be completely shot by now. Tbh he has improved since the Vol.3/AHIG days, and now he sounds better than on The Gray Chapter. Talking about harsh vocals btw, I think the hardcore screaming is probably the most dangerous to pull out

Heretic Anthem has some of the most embarrassing lyrics that make me cringe to yell when I see them live, but it also has some of their heaviest sections in their entire career.
