@silentpotato

You sound like one lucky dude. Nearly every music project I've been involved in, someone's insisted we "play pop-punk cause that's cool".

I need better musical acquaintances, man.

they didn't say they were inventing post metal either.

also

maybe its just me but in my personal music writing experience there is never a point that you sit down with your band and say "hey lets write a (insert genre here) album this time round!"

"maybe its just me but in my personal music writing experience there is never a point that you sit down with your band and say "hey lets write a (insert genre here) album this time round!". i mean, you play the type of music you play because of the combined influences of the members of the group. i think most GOOD bands sit down and instead say "hey lets write an album."

ye, like, except Sykes, the others have actually a word on the "group decisions"

yea, when i was trying to get a band going i talked to my guitar guy and he likes post - hardcore/metalcore, so we were writting some proggy metalcore with doom influences, to fit both of our taste.
