there are so many great elements. I can understand if you don't like some of the deathcore sections but the post-rock/jazz influenced sections (see flourish or oscillator) are great.

there is no post rock or jazz on this

There's heaps of post-metal, which is basically post-rock. And there are a few jazzy interludes.

nah it ain't prog.
But this def has mad post-metal shit in it. It's just hard to say that because this is mainly seen as deathcore. And listen to the beginning of Exoplanet III for the jazzy shit. It's not jazz but it's jazzy.

Listen to 4:26 of the 7th track. Its fucking a carbon copy of the ending of Oscillator.

You've got to remember though, that guitar line isn't the most original thing in the world. If anything, Contortionist lifted that line from some other band.

You, my good sir, are correct. Probably a case of "the chicken or the egg", but that Sunlight band definitely took it from The Contortionist.

no jazz or post-rock on this? Listen to Exoplanet Part 1 at 1 minute in for the post-rock. Listen to the entire intro on Exoplanet Part 3 for the jazz. Seriously.
