My favourite moment of recent times was when the first of those online petitions reached parliament, can't remember what it was for, and the government made a statement along the lines of 'yes, this is very nice, doesn't mean we'll actually take action on this'.
The outrage was hilarious. "B-b-but, 10,000 Facebook users'.
That's this generation summed up.

Petitions to change law/influence who stands in parliament are retarded.
If they weren't unfair/unrepresentative/retarded they'd be, y'know, an official vote/election/referendum. We already have those :/

It's less the act of doing them that the idea that 5000 deciding to click the same box online means that automatically then the government should take action on it.
Protest is fine, as a message they're fine, the idea some people had that they instantly replace democracy made me chuckle is all. Just this entitlement thing 'but I signed it, as did fifty other people, how can I be ignored? I'm going to listen to Senser now'

Classic.
Mine was about Trumps visit to the UK (I was for it) and cannabis (I was against it) but I wasn’t expecting anything I just found it amusing and a good way to wind up the student brats.

Very much agreed, it’s ludicrous the level of outrage & self-entitlement there is now. It’s part of the reason I refuse to use Facebook, it’s full of that rubbish.

Zak, sounds like you were winding up the whole idea of the Facebook protest going for the most against-the-liberal-agenda contrarian petitions you could find.
All this proves is you're more invested in taking the piss than even I am :D

Yeah the entitlement is fucking outrageous, it always has been but it’s reached new levels of taking the piss now.
I miss people having a sense of humour I really do.

In all seriousness the trying to ban Trump's visit was one that riled me a bit.
You can't just block democratically elected world leaders, especially ones who are allies, from visiting - didn't get that one at all. Proper reactionary hissy fit stuff.

Could someone have an act like that now? probably not.
Read an interview with the George Dawes lad saying even Little Britain would be banned now. He didn't mean because it wasn't funny anymore (weren't exactly comedy dynamite at the time) but it just isn't worth the grief now. Too many people would be offended.
