Interesting thoughts garth. Have to disagree, although I've never realized the Arcade Fire example. The concern is that if the 2nd last song overshadows the closer, then it may mean that listeners leave the album on a slightly (& relatively) disappointing note.
I was actually thinking of writing a blog about track ordering, etc... But it really does depend on too many things (length of album, type of music, etc...)
