So after listening to this and Panopticon back to back, this completely slays Pan imo. I might even bump Pan down to a 4.5.

Panopticon still deserves a 5.0, Oceanic simply transcended into another plane of existence

Oceanic is the best, there is no way any of other Isis albums can overshadow it's glory. These album truly deserves praise, the whole album from start to end is simply perfect. Complete work of art. Panopticon? Twinkly and not so massive, weakest spot in Isis discography. Still better than 99% of current post metal.

I mean, Oceanic's definitely got Panopticon beat, but weakest point in the discog when Absence exists?

Syndic Calls, In Fiction and especially Grinning Mouths are completely massive

Panopticon is massive as hell, on par with Oceanic in terms of massiveness

Panopticon is to Oceanic as Yohan Blake is to Usain Bolt.
Panopticon is almost formulaic and how it has the intense builds and heavy climaxes but Oceanic has a better flow to it and the songwritting is a bit more interesting imo

Isis sure as hell knew how to write fucking songs. Like damn it came so abnormally natural to them.
|
| |
Or maybe it actually gave them a really hard time and they endlessly struggled until they finally put out something they deemed worthy of being professionally recorded and distributed after much pain and strife
You never know!!!
