"The quotes are part of the total structure of the review. In fact, they are what structures the review" I disagree. If each quote specifically linked to the next paragraph, then maybe. But the quotes all make 1 point... A point I'm unsure you are even considering since I doubt you've heard this album & its predecessor.

"The analogy with an album with filler tracks is poor." That wasn't the analogy. Interludes are different to filler tracks due to their size in comparison to other tracks.

"A review is a self-enclosed totality, more akin to a single song." Arguable either way. But I think reviews can have good or bad paragraphs because each paragraph makes a different point.

Anyway, so this doesn't go back & forth all day, I understand your points & agree with them to some extent (even if your rating & use of the word "horrible" is exaggerated). I've never done this kind of review before & the reason I did was because it was a year-end review of a non-new release which was my Album of the Year. I felt it called for something different, hence the direction I chose.

Honestly, it's the title track and Dear Death 1/2 that make this album a classic for me. The raw emotion of DDP2 is incredible and the lyrics sublime. One of the best PH albums of all time, hands down.

BATS' Red in Tooth and Claw was the best post-hardcore release of 2009. Sorry guys.
