They're not known for their commanding stage precence. It doesn't help that the vocalist talks like he's really fucking high between songs - but the music rocks and that's what counts.

I saw Cynic open up for Cannibal Corpse in, like, 1995 I think. The entire club ignored them. No surprise...Cynic's music was way over their heads. I didn't ignore them, but I wasn't really into them at the time. I wish I had been, so that I could have really studied them on stage. Not too many bands play at their level, either then or now. But I think Focus is better than Traced in Air.

Anyone into Obscura? Check out Cosmogenesis. It's like Focus-era Cynic mixed with Symbolic-era Death. Pretty amazing stuff, and incredibly progressive. If you like Cynic, check it out.
