Same. I saw them live on that Hunter tour and it was unbelievably disappointing.

Shit. I’ve seen them about a half dozen times, were great every time.

When I saw them at the Fox Theater in Pomona and Gojira opened for them (round the sun tour), they did have a difficult time living up to Gojira, who were mind blowingly amazing and intense.

Also saw Mastodon with Lamb of God, and pretty much same thing. LoG just crushed it, though they are different types of metal shows (the don is psychedelia, while lamb is high energy intensity).

CtS still best Mastodon, then Blood Mountain. Also think EoS is highly underrated. Roots Remain is one of their best songs, just phenomenal.

I saw Mastodon and Gojira. Gojira opened and they were easily the best metal band I've seen live. Mastodon were a massive, monumental disappointment. Sounded terrible, were messy and their songs just did not translate live. It was even more disappointing as I'm a much bigger Mastodon fan than Gojira but they were undeniably worse.

My friend and I left after about 40 minutes of Mastodon. They were probably the worst live band I've ever seen actually now that I think about it. Them or Ellie Goulding at glastonbury lol.

One of the best songs here for sure. That opening riff is monstrous

True. This has aged rather gracefully I must say. Their rawer beginnings really suited them. The nostalgia isn’t quite as strong as with Leviathan or BM, so its ‘starting position’ is further back perhaps, but I can see a reemergence of sorts

I know man, shithole. So random that’s where the LA date was. Mastodon usually plays the palladium, seen them 3 times there. One at the Greek. And once at the Forum w/ Lamb of God.

I fucking love these guys live, I dunno. Seen them 6 or 7 times. What can I say? Either you both saw them on a bad night, or it’s a simple difference of opinion.
