"end of harvest is one of the most overlooked neurosis tracks"
they used to play it live all the time

"finally i agree w/ brandon"
Now I feel the need to shower.
"i always found this one to be a 3-3.5 range, kind of inconsistent and not as fluid to me as surrounding neurosis records"
Ahhh. All is right in the world now.

I see this record can drag more than being inconsistent. all the tracks are good, even though the t/t is honestly neurosis on auto.

this destroys ToG tho.
gave ToG so many listens but it just wont connect with me as some of their other records did since almost first listen.

ToG is Neurosis being almost as straightforward as they were in Souls

Yeah I can see that. The tracks are consistently excellent imo, but it does have a slower feel for sure.

I had the same experience. Took a lot of time for TOG to grow on me. But End of the Harvest and Under the Surface are so fucking good

that part towards the under the surface theres a part where the rhythm guitar is just chugging and probs the best moment in sludge metal history is the guitar tone and feedback AFTER the chord is played. it starts at like 7:05. that feedback noise after the chord chug (or it could be the palm mute itself not entirely sure) is simply the most heavy, fitting sound Ive ever heard

its like the dumbest thing ever they are so good at writing songs and inserting unique articulations and atmosphere its just absolutely stupid that nobody else can compete when they are at their best. took me a long long time to get into neurosis at this level because it takes a while to uncover just how good they are at writing songs that carry a real engrossing atmosphere throughout. eye of every storm my buddy hated for weeks and then he finally had his mind blown by bridges when he was baked

I know. I remember how I used to call you a fucking idiot on the daily because you kept saying Neurosis sucks.

every metalhead friend ive showed them too hated them first time round
i still have a few friends who think their boring, they are just retarded
i gave their music (and really post-metal too) a real real in depth chance and realized the genre mostly sucks but neurosis are simply unreal
and yea wolfe bridges and burn did it for me
