Pantera have been cancelled 20 years after they disbanded

"Vulgar Display of Power" is where Pantera found their voice. Sure, "Cowboys from Hell" was a phenomenal record, still one of the best metal records to date, but the band differentiated themselves from the pack with this album. Phil Anselmo's distinct machismo vocals are a part of the reason for this, with more credit owed to the Abbott brothers and Rex Brown. "Walk," nearly three decades later, is still a classic. The amount of influence Pantera has had on rock and metal bands performing today is undeniable.
With all of their primitive grooves and grit, that isn't to say Pantera shed their thrashy side; see "Fucking Hostile" and "Rise." They've even touched up their ballads, namely "This Love" and "Hollow." My favorite track off the album is "No Good (Attack the Radical)." It was surprising to see the whole 'white wine' situation take place, seeing that Anselmo wrote this track, a song that seems outright anti-racism, revealing his feeling that we all live in the same fucked up America no matter our color or race.
The three tracks that precede "Hollow," arguably the best song on the album, all bleed together for me. It almost seems they are carbon copies of one another with only slight differences. That said, "Vulgar Display of Power" is a tremendously solid album and an album that remains strong three decades later.

Its kinda funny how people say this band should be considered a best metal band ever but they couldnt make a good album until their 5th album and their final album they clearly were headed downhill.

Cowboys, Vulgar, Far Beyond Driven, Great Southern Trendkill are all mooooreeeee than enough for me to consider them one of my all time favorite bands.
Still my #1 band for lifting heavy, no one really comes close (although Crowbar, Suffocation, Fear Factory, Amon Amarth, Mastodon and some others are also constant replays for that)

You're far from the only one who doesn't like Power Metal, considering it only has a 3/5 on here. If anything, I don't think the perception toward that album changed much until recently. For me though, I think it's fantastic. Sure, it's not a groove metal album like the future Pantera records, but it's so cool to hear Phil in a more traditional metal setting. I'm probably biased since I have Cowboys as one of my favorites as well; much of my favorite work by Pantera still maintains their traditional metal roots, rather than the more meat-headed aspects of their groove metal days

That's true, I didn't hear shit about Power Metal from anyone until like 2 years ago and I've been talking about Pantera since the late 90s/early 2000s.
I get why you'd dig it, it's just not my thing

Pantera create a masterpiece with their album Vulgar Display of Power, which is an album that people who embrace it, will not forget it.

Why exatly do you say this, this isn't a challenge btw. I get that Phil brought that gorilla dbag mentality, but metal did Metal really absorb that impulse? I dont see it much in metal these days,. maybe some early deathcore absorbed that stuff from 2000s but idk
