Honestly Hawks could probably have an easier time talking me down from this album than tundra could with Negative Spaces… have you read Tundra’s review lmao

And ya venin is spot on with Black Brick, it’s just a better more epic sounding Magnolia. Magnolia sounds like the radio edit of that song lmao

hey at least we're in sync with Daoboys
ironically i do get why Tundra's been acting up tho - the Poppy album is solid and her best, but I just am not emotionally hooked like I usually like to be with records of that style, it's missing something. and a LOT of these Zakk Cervini-mixed records lately seem to sound the same as the last, the writing is different but they use the same drum tones, same guitar tones, it's a very distinct sound that's gotten homogenous to me, kinda like how Travis Barker has homogenized a ton of the artists he's worked with sound-wise.

Magnolia is still good but probably my least fav alongside Revelator and Garden Route.

Finally listened to this. Pretty cool stuff. I don't think it was worth 55 euros on vinyl but whatevs, the music is pretty good. I think I need to listen to it more, and the second half is way more engaging than the first.

Doberman and Magnolia are incredibly engaging, pretty much on par with Revelator and Body Behavior. I don't know what your interpretation of engaging is.

The songwriting on this is so good that it would be one of those albums where people overlook bad lyrics....
But the lyrics aren't bad... they're amazing. I can't get enough of it tbh. The lyics on Infinite Granite were also incredible.

I don't know what your interpretation of engaging is.
The first half is very like, brickwalled and intense so I kinda lose interest after a while. Whereas the backhalf has a bit more contrast which allows the intense moments to breath. I'll be giving it a few more listens for sure. Listened to it again at the gym and its already "opening up" to me.

I genuinely believe that Amethyst is one of the most beautiful songs these guys have ever written. The alternate chords in the final huge chorus create such a massive catharsis and the song itself is so charged with emotion. What a fantastic track.
They nailed it live too--just as great of an experience.

Totally with you. Amethyst is catchy as hell and sounds massive. It's arguably the band's most accessible track, but doesn't skimp on the emotion or complexity under the hood

Amethyst and Winona make me wanna slap a five on this. Id seriously say they’re just as good as any of the Sunbather tracks
