Well I guess I'm going to Chicago for the first time then.
I still don't think the significance of this record has fully dawned on me yet.

I think that’s the case for a lot people. I truly think time will be very kind to this album.
They’ll forever be the “why the fuck wasn’t this band more popular?” band

If I had the funds I’d literally go to Chicago and see them there too. Despite how upset I am at this whole situation, im so grateful to them for playing a couple more shows.
Having the last time I saw them be opening for two bands I don’t give a fuck about wouldn’t have sat right with me.

You see them when they toured for this record tho?
One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. These guys always kill it

Nah man I haven't been to a show in ages. But I appreciated the performances I saw on YT. There's one I kept sharing of Secret History that straight up gives me chills.

I’m sorry dude. Well, the post does have me feeling like it’s more likely they’ll come back to it than not. Hopefully they do and you catch them then…

Here’s hoping it’s not a 20th anniversary for Albatross or something equally dumb. I don’t think they’d do that based on everything all of them have said but shit, who knows

Saw them a few weeks ago headline a small venue in Grand Rapids while on the Coheed and TBS tour. My fourth time seeing them and each time was special. So grateful I went to the most recent show! I almost bailed because I had to get up at 3 AM the next morning.

I saw that they were doing that! That’s very cool and im glad you got to see them headline again… tho i really hope thats not the setlist they go with for these last two shows. Too much Dealer and Albatross imo, I like their last three a lot more.
It almost makes me wish they were doing two nights. Maybe night one is for the old heads who wanna hear all that shit and the other is for the rest of us that like the newer albums.
But hey, I guess I should be glad they didn’t just call it a day after this Coheed tour.

Dude I'm not the world's biggest Dealer fan either but they played the shit out of those songs live. Made me go back and listen to Dealer for a week or two afterward.
I highly doubt they'll stick with that setlist, though. Connor specifically said they were playing more Dealer tunes because it was that album's 10th anniversary and they wanted to try weird stuff on the side quest headlining shows.

oh thank you for telling me that! im very relieved to hear him say something along those lines. I really believe him then.
I mean Eric literally said something like he felt sick every night on that tenth anniversary tour. It made it sound like they really don’t like those songs much any more, at least for Conor and Eric.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Albatross and Dealer, but more like I just like a few individual songs off them while the rest of the album is just fine. I love pretty much all of their last three records front to back.

Like I said man, if you’re even thinking about it cop a ticket as soon as they go on sale. The show will definitely sell out. Even if you end up not being able to make it you’ll just be able to resell it.
Plus it’s only $23, so like $30 with Ticketmaster fees. The moonrise hotel is also in the loop (it’s right next door basically) and is very nice, I booked a night there for me and my gf one night after a show for like $150 on agoda. If that’s too much there’s more than a few cheaper hotels around. Delmar Hall isnt in downtown STL, so you’re not gonna be around a bunch of expensive 4 star hotels.

If you like the band as much as it seems like you do, trust me it’ll be worth it. Delmar Hall is a bougier venue, but it’s got great sound and there’s really not a bad spot in the place, unless you get there late and you’re short…

Thinking about catching one of these final shows, my only issue is that I don't really want to visit the US atm

Yeah… don’t do it man. They’re my favorite band but if I were even Canadian I wouldn’t come to this fucking country right now.
Don’t get me wrong, we’d love to have you, but the shit they’re doing here is absolutely insane. The risk of incident is like 2-5% but that’s just getting in. You might get harassed on the street. Idk how Chicago is, it was fine when I went but im a white guy and our dear leader has been talking up sending in the national guard. STL you might actually be less likely to get harassed because it’s not on that dumb fucks radar as far as I know, but it’s in a red state and I literally had a friend get deported earlier this year. My gf also kindly mentioned that we have no way of knowing how much worse it’ll be in three months.
Idk man, like I said I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t already live here. I don’t think the travel process is quite as bad as the worst anecdotes you may have heard, but it’s just not a risk I would personally take.

I don't particularly look like the "stereotypical" Mexican (if there is such a thing), and my pronunciation/accent in English is pretty good, so I'd probably go "under the radar" in a way. But regardless of that, there's just a tremendous sense of dread around the country that I can't quite put into words.
It's like watching a devastating car crash in slow motion. The news continues to worsen daily, with something appalling happening almost every day. I lived in Portland back in 2015 and loved it, but things are different now. My GF's family lives in Houston, and we usually go for the holiday season, but we'll probably skip it this year, and the next one if it's up to me. Maybe I'm being too paranoid, and I should make a quick trip to Chicago to catch the show, but it's a bit of a weird dilemma for all the reasons we've discussed here.

Yeah man, idk. That still seems like a tremendous amount of risk for something relatively small. Obv do whatever you want, and for sure the “whiter” you look and the better your English is the better off you’ll be. But they’re not going for criminals. Like at all, matter fact the more vulnerable you look the more likely they’ll go after you.
My buddy was clean as fuck and was in the process of becoming a citizen and im almost positive they deported him. I have no idea where he is or if he’s even okay. Unfortunately I only had his phone number but I did have him on snap and he hasn’t opened shit. At this point im just hoping he’s back “home” (his home is here, fuck these assholes) and just hasn’t logged in.
