Angel Eyes rules. Too close is bland vanilla

Ultraviolet didn't click with me at first but after a few listens, it's undeniably catchy

Angel Eyes: sounds like Holy Roller 2.0 and that was one of my least fave songs of theirs so this one doesn't do much for me but it's kind of fun, but not as impressive as Cellar Door.

Ultraviolet - I'm sure the Constance fans ate this one up. I liked it but it didn't blow me away or anything.

Too Close/Too Late - Similar to Ultraviolet but I like this one better. The hook caught me more easily. My fave of these 3 tracks. A really easy listen.

Overall I'm both happy and slightly disappointed with this EP. It didn't push the envelope one iota, it just did Spiritbox things that we already know they can do. It felt like a more compact version of Eternal Blue. It's good for what it is but I want to see some forward movement if they do album #2 next.

My ranking for this EP after 2 listens:

Jaded

The Void

Too Late/Too Close

Cellar Door

Ultraviolet

Angel Eyes

There may not be a massive shift in sound here but I don't really agree that it's just a condensed EB. There are some different flavors here. It has been awhile since I listened all the way through that album, but I think a song like The Void would stand out as noticeably different from the rest of the tracks there. They could definitely take some bigger swings but I do think they've made an effort to toy with their sound on these last 2 EPs.

The Void would fit snug as a glove on EB tracklist

Jaded is such an excellent pop metal song it’s insane. It’s them perfecting their craft. Guitar riffs are very memorable and Courtney fires on all cylinders.

Yeah Jaded is probably my favorite song of this entire year.

Jaded

Ultraviolet (holy shit I love this song)

Cellar Door - basically the heaviest thing ever

Angel Eyes

Too Late/Too Close

The Void - honestly wasn't really feeling this at all when it was released as a single, but it really works as a bridge/atmospheric brush to help paint the rest of the EP

Overall, EP is my favoirte thing from them. Need a new full length now, thx

Yeah if you wanted to introduce someone to this band, Jaded is the first song you'd show them
