i wish i liked this more. diminishing returns. w/e, 3 of the songs here are in my top 50 most played songs of the year, that has to count for something at least.

This got a hard red flannel from Fantano. Can't blame him really.

I guess it kinda surprised me considering he gave a positive review for SWB.

Yeah though the reasons why he digs that one are I don’t know….weird at least to me
More palpable instrumentation like wth
He’s also made it pretty clear at this point that he doesn’t enjoy the band even if he should, given his background and taste. I actually did not wanted him to review this one pretty much saw that score coming

i have no strong feelings on post-boxer national, however i appreciate that i can at least count on each of their albums having 1-3 absolute bangers even if i'm lukewarm on the whole thing
where is her head is my fave here, like abel pt 2
you make a classic album or two and give me some jamz here and there for the next decade, you're a p good band in my book. plus i appreciate that they tried something new here

Lowered this another sad couple decimals. Damn. Just can't connect to this. It's truly the opposite of the typical National trend of growing on me over the course of months. Instead, every time I hear this I find one more thing I dislike. Could be riding in the low 3's by year's end.

jesus i just dont get the hate

I don't hate it I just nothing it. There's a few tracks that pluck at my heart strings but the rest of it just passes by for me. I had this at a 4.7 at first, I don't know what's happening. It sounded amazing initially but somehow it exhausted all of its depth in that one listen.

Didn't realize the reception for this had dipped so much since leak/release, wow. Just another example of why week of release reviews in general are a bad idea for music albums.
I still enjoy this a lot though.

It's a bad idea but also pretty much the industry standard. Any website/publication that consistently waits weeks to produce its product won't be viable in the grand scheme of things. (I say from Sputnik, clearly the model for cutting edge)

This is honestly just as good for me as it ever was. Except that You Had Your Soul With You just grows slightly even more tolerable about every listen still.
I haven't heard a song that has hit me as hard as Easy to Find in quite a long time.

Exactly my experience. It has no staying power or real substance. It's pleasant sounding fluff.
