Black Mile...and that's it

I'd swap Mean Everything and Virgin but otherwise Sowing's got it right. Both are solid anyhow, even if Black Mile has more moments that hit me hard

I've never been big on METN outside of a few amazing songs (esp. I Can Feel a Hot One), so for me Virgin sits comfortably atop it. But I remember when I first joined the site everyone was losing their minds over METN so maybe I just listened to the albums in the wrong order or something, but I never "got" it or understood the mania surrounding it. I think it's good but weak comparatively when pitted against the rest of their discog.

i can feel a hot one is a top 10 (maybe even top 5) manchester orchestra song but simple math and this are several orders of magnitude better tbh

The fact that this tops Simple Math is a massive accomplishment because I always thought that album was untouchably their best

this is going to rate very high on my decade list. might actually be my favourite album from 2017

also even though my favourite song has changed like 6 times now, i think i've settled on the alien being the best. that song is just a perfect encapsulation of everything i love about this band.

For me it used to be Lead, SD, but now I prefer The Silence. This is my favorite of 2017 - even over Brand New - and will most likely be somewhere in my top 3 or 5 of the decade. Possibly even #1 but I don't know if it can top Carrie & Lowell which is my default #1 atm.

Lead SD and The Silence are prob my two favs here but The Grocery and The Moth are up there also. Every song off this is great.

Been listening to I Know How to Speak on repeat for the past half hour. OMG so good. Really would have fit perfectly with that Alien-Sunshine-Grocery section. Just not where. Maybe after The Alien.
Some of MO’s early EPs are on sputnik. Worth a listen?

definitely check Let My Pride... (two live versions of Wolves at Night and Sleeper that are better than the album ones) and Fourteen Years (Its Ok With Me is the best MO b-side)

Thanks dude, I’ll check them out.

It’s all about the Alien, the Gold, and the Grocery. From a lyrical and emotional standpoint, I also gotta mention the Parts.

Don’t forget The Silence, Lead SD and The Moth (first two are probably my favorites here). But honestly, it’s all about the entire album ha. Incredibly consistent.
And great suggestion row. It’s Ok with Me is stunning. They don’t have the 14 Years EP on Spotify (listened on YouTube), but I found a CD copy on amazon for $5 total including shipping. It’s used but still not bad.

Giving this the 5 it deserves.

This album is such an important and relevant piece of art.
That's probably the highest compliment I can ever give to a record.
