I feel like most Nickelback comparison shouldn't be made until you actually go listen to some Nickelback right before making them. It's like anything with a hook that's rock oriented in any way gets compared to them.

At this point "Nickelback" has just become a placeholder term for "shitty rock music". I agree though, it's bandied about a little too casually nowadays
