I consider Uroboros, Dum Spiro Spero and Arche to be DEG's equivalent of Swans' The Seer, To Be Kind and The Glowing Man. In other words, I think those three albums to be DEG's Holy Trinity albums.

"I haven’t revisited the Sukekiyo stuff recently so my memory of it isn’t good"
Engrain Adoratio to your brain because it's as good, if not better than DEG's 'holy trinity'.

I've actually got Adoratio on my iTunes...but haven't listened to it yet. Yep, I'll be doing that now.

New Dir this year, Kaoru said this on a radio show. Looking at Dir and Sukekiyo's tour lineups, my predictions are either early September or (preferably) December.

Yeah, I’m a bit apprehensive myself. I’d say I’m approaching this with less hype than I would normally give for DEG cause the singles while I was very hyped about them at the time are only just “OK” to me as of present. Also could be that my music tastes recently are not aligned w/DEG currently and I’m not as interested or invested in the band as I was even as recent as 2 years ago when Utafumi dropped.

Na, Utafumi underdelivered and Ningen's production is horrific. I'm excited for the final modes but for the new album I'll just wait and see.

Yeah, looking forward to it, just not as hyped as I was for some previous releases.

Yeah, I was really disappointed w/Utafumi but live it's pretty decent...Ningen was a better song in almost every way than Utafumi, but as a single it didn't wow me like Rinkaku and Sustain the untruth and its production was so banal I thought they had a production crisis.
Listening to Adoratio, I really like the band that Sukekiyo's trying to be, and I especially love how it's more introspective and moodier for lack of a better description. However, I do admit it was a bit too much for me to take in with just my first listen as it's quite a long album (yet something like a Yob album which is similar in length wasn't a complaint I had with that band?). I do think that repeated listens and patience on my end will be worth it when I find the time to revisit it.

the only thing that was good about Ningen wo Kaburu is that i'm absolutely astounded that Kyo can still belt F5s

I really like the vocal melody in Ningen's chorus a lot even if it reminds me of Un deux a bit too much. That and the aforementioned F5s he belts in the song are the positives of that song IMO.

I really hope the band doesn’t get stuck in a rut
Dunno why but I have a bad feeling that whatever they do next will be underwhelming. Here’s hoping my feelings are wrong

Yeah, it gets better every listen until eventually, it's seamless to listen to. Jamming the CD with the lovely booklet is a ritual I have every few months. Also with the length, with Yob's type of music that album length would be easier to listen to.

There's plenty of reasons why they could drop a dud next. They have an uphill battle to climb.

The new album titled "the insulated world'' will release 26th September...I'm still tempted to pre-order welp.
