Horrendous, Tribulation, Venenum, Cadaveric Fumes, Howls of Ebb are all bands doing the psych death n roll schtick. A lot of older prog death bands do it too but I guess these are the most immediately familiar

I bet it's the smae ol reason. he probably got a kid now and doesn't have the time anymore so he sold his bass and works full time as an IT consultant ^^. gonna have to finish our own album before the same might happen to me.
