Question: Am I the only one that doesn't get the appeal of The Upsides? The avg rating for it here is pretty high and I know Wonder Years fans worship it but I don't think it's really very special. Pretty much just jam their newest two records.

The Upsides rule, agreed that it's not as good as their last two records tho

Soupy's vocals run a very thin line between really whiny and strong but on the Upsides a lot of it was on the wrong side of that line imo. I need to give it another listen. Maybe it'll click this time.

Maybe, the upsides gave us melrose diner so that counts for something.

wonder years sound got heavier and more mature (relatively speaking) after upsides which was pretty light stuff. regardless, it's still amazing.

Melrose Diner is a jam. This is their best cd though. Suburbia was great as well.

I can never decide if I like this or Suburbia more. The Upsides is okay

Tbh I'd take most of TSSF's discography over TWY but still a great song.
|

Edit: Thought you wrote TSSB.
I prefer these guys to TSSF, but they're great as well

I love TSSF's lyrics but I won't argue with you about who's better. Musically I much prefer TSSF tho and the vocals are definitely better imo
