this would be Metallica's best if there was an actual bass track

Couldn't care less for a new album at this point even though Death Magnetic was pretty good.

The lack of bass doesn't hinder this album at all and it's never bothered me.

I'm a bassist, so the lack of bass sticks out like a sore thumb to me.
I honestly just kinda wish these guys will call it a career, although that tribute they did to Dio was easily the best thing they've been involved in since the 90s.

Audible bass wouldn't hurt, but I can do without it. This isn't like the only album in the world where bass can't be heard.
Still, Lars and James were douches during that time.

Those 12 seconds aren't half bad to me, they have a sort of bouncy 80s (Not 80s Metallica, mind you, but 80s nonetheless) type feel to them. Tired of them using that same guitar and drum sound for EVERYTHING these days, though.

I'd probably take the whole 0.5 from the rating for The Years Of Decay if the bass wasn't there. but to be fair, I see what MO thought with that comment, let's be real, too many thrash albums have almost no bass at all, or it's just there in the background following the guitars.

Ahaha I knew that would cause some shit, of course there are exceptions to what I said. I'm not denying that at all. I mean anacrusis definitely stands out (also Death but that's dm people)
All I was getting at is thrash MAINLY is evaluated and hailed for its riffs/solos and I'm always baffled when people harp on this album above allllllllll other non -bassy thrash albums about how little bass there is
