I used to reaaaaaaly dig Acid Bath, they have a lot of ‘not-sludge’ elements after all. Then again, their schtick has worn somewhat thin of late, so we’re growing apart

Tyrant by Thou is v good, perhaps a beacon of hope for me
Probably the most ‘traditionally(?) sludgy’ album I’ve heard, that I really enjoy (i.e. there are doom elements, hardcore ones (goes with the territory) and light progressive bents, but it’s still very much a sludge album at heart. And without the post etc.

Yeah it's definitely possible to like one sludge band and not another. Thou is probably also my favorite sludge band.
Once we start talking about genre elements present in different bands' music, I get lost. I'm not that smart with music theory or genre classification. I just like heavy shit
