Thanks. And it was their car insurance paid for it. In my state (Ohio), the driver responsible for the accident (or their insurance, assuming they have it) is responsible for any damages, medical, etc. I was actually the passenger, my brother was driving since he was coming with us. The actual payout was much larger since the car was totaled and shit, so that was paid for as well as medical, and we both received checks (hence the $2,000 I got).



It was a long process though, my bro had to hire an attorney and it took a while to reach a settlement, the insurance company kept trying to lowball and shit. Even though the woman who hit us admitted fault and it was obvious by the collision anyway. I don't know if she had to pay anything out of pocket, although I'm sure her insurance premium went up after that.



Sorry to hear you didn't receive anything, was your incident a car accident as well? I'm not sure how it works in Sweden, and pretty sure even in the US it varies by state.

Oh I see. Maybe the insurance is way better over in the US. My electronic drum kit got stolen in my storehouse and there was no way to get compensated for it. But I guess that's a lot harder to prove than getting hit by a car. I don't think you would have gotten paid that much in Sweden though if I had to guess.



But it wasn't the crime I was originally talking about. Long story short my friend got threatened to death by a loser gangster and I had to take a huge loan to save my friend. The dude has been sentenced and everything but I have still not gotten compensated for it. I've lost an absolutely insane amount of money that I'll never get back because the government truly doesn't give a single fuck about their own people. And my friend is dead now anyway, so it was all for nothing. I have no idea if it would be different in the US but I'm still genuinely shocked and angry how little the government care about their own citizens. And I'm FAR from the worst case too.
