Not Unlike The Waves rules hard too, kinda forgotten about it.

Pale Companion transcends every one of their songs. It's climax is just immaculate as well.

Pale Companion is probably my favorite song of theirs; Limbs, Falling Snow, and Fire Above, Ice Below on here are right up there as well tho.

Just finished the album, figured I'd go for a ranking of the tracks, just my thoughts at the moment:

Falling Snow > Limbs > OFIB II > Fire Above, Ice Below > Not Unlike The Waves > OFIB I > This White Mountain On Which You Will Die > OFIB III

Fire/Ice>Falling Snow>Limbs=Bloodbirds>Not Unlike the Waves>>OFIB I>> White Mountain>>> The Grain.

Although I still think the Grain is a good albeit unexpected way to end the album.

Sowilo Rune, I am the Wooden Doors(extremely underrated!) Hallways of Enchanted Ebony, Above/Below, Odal, As Embers Dress among others. Too many great tracks!

Yea Sowilo Rune is amazing. It's so hard to pick favorites, You Were But A Ghost In My Arms is another very underrated one. Embers is certainly up there.

Yeah Ghost in My Arms is underrated as well. That part in Wooden Doors with the acoustic guitar and the clean vocals gets me everytime

"It's this grandeur that protects the spirit withiiiin" OMG OMG

It bugs me too although I think he just thought it was too polished but I wouldn't have it any other way. When I wrap my mind around the trilogy, it will be a really strong 5/5.

It's not that polished haha, and at least all of the solos and leads are in tune, unlike a certain debut...

The band probably detests this because it was such hell to record it apparently.

I Am The Wooden Doors is indeed underrated, the acoustic guitar section is actually a tribute to the first song of Ulver's Nattens Madrigal, it's almost the exact same passage of music if you listen to them back-to-back.

I don't really think it is that much more polished than The Mantle
