If I wasn't such an unabashed Cult of Luna fanboy these guys would easily be my favorite band

I think this is my second favorite Neurosis after TSIB

Me too honestly. I can see myself 5ing this in the future.

They're both 5s.
TSIB is the best of their industrial sound.
This is the best of their more "organic" direction that they went with after.

idk Eye of Every storm grabs me a lot harder than this one.

I find Eye to be one of their least engaging. Still an excellent album.

have to be in a very specific mood to listen to that one

I'm going to listen to this and Times of Grace more. I find them to be the least engaging, but there isn't really anything about them that's so dissimilar from literally every other album by them. I just need to surrender myself and let the sounds touch my soul.

and that's how it's done

TEOES, TOG, GTTR are all pretty interchangeable to me quality-wise depending on the mood. I'd give TOG the edge when it's combined with the Neurot album. Also because of End of the Harvest, which is a top-5 Neurosis song imo
|

finally i agree w/ brandon
end of harvest is one of the most overlooked neurosis tracks
tog with grace companion is absolutely phenomenal

Basically all of their albums starting with Souls move me in very serious but very different ways. This is the only album that I don't really have an attachment to. TOG has some songs that I have intense relationships with but there are some that don't do much of anything for me. I shall keep returning to them in different settings to see if they can grow roots.

| |
i always found this one to be a 3-3.5 range, kind of inconsistent and not as fluid to me as surrounding neurosis records
tog destroys this
