I dunno who they're playing with yet. The Japan tour has Envy and Planes Mistaken For Stars but so far no supports have been announced for the Australia tour. I'm guessing it'll just be local bands.

so that means it's going to suck

I'm pretty confident they will play dropout bread, i wouldn't fret about the riff (pun intended)

Man, Converge and Envy, goddamn.

No, it will be awesome because it's Converge you tool.
And yeah, Drop Out seems to appear on a lot of their set lists.

Yeah that ending lead for Drop Out is insane, I hope they play it too when they tour here. Five Star Prison Cell are probably the most likely to support the Melbourne gig but I'm not sure about elsewhere.

Wow...this album is pretty bad. The vocals sound like nails on a chalkboard to me, and some cool riff change-ups aside, this was overly bland.
Maybe I came into this with too high of expectations, since this is supposed to be overly bad-ass...but in all honesty, I just yawned and switched music. This Message Edited On 12.28.06

Finally someone agrees with me about this band.

I really find nothing special about Converge, but then again, the only metalcore band that I really enjoy is Killswitch Engage, and the rest I hate. This Message Edited On 12.28.06

There's better than them, Grant.

Yeah, I'm pretty much in the same boat. Although, I'm not really big on KSE either. I do like some metalcore though. Usually just select tracks from bands, not whole albums or anything.

Well, the only reason why I really enjoy KSE is because of Howard Jones....yeup, that's basically it.

Converge is currently one of my favorite metal bands, but there are so many fanboy-hypocrites on this thread it's driving me crazy.
With that said, this album ISN'T that great. 3.5/5
Jane Doe was fvckin awesome, though.

No Iluvatar, I just don't like this album at all. That's like me saying "You don't like (insert some Slayer/Iron Maiden/Sodom album here) because you don't understand the band." Doesn't make sense to say that, now does it?This Message Edited On 12.28.06

Your reasons for disliking the album completely imply you "don't understand" it
I don't think I really need to "understand" this album for me to tell you that I've listened to it three times in the past few days in full, and it hasn't struck me as being the least bit interesting. I find it bland, repetitive, and annoying.
You're trying to compare Converge to Slayer it seems and thats retarded.
Yes, that would be retarded, but I wasn't comparing them. I was using the point you tried to make and putting it into a different scenerio. The only thing that Converge and Slayer have going for them is the fact that they're both under the broad category of "Metal".

I'd rather hear the big paragraph.
What's so wrong with me seriously not liking this album? I think it's horrid. The first five tracks are nothing but chopped up songs, almost like an excuse to fill up space. While some of their riffs are interesting (Hellbound and Vengeance), I feel like putting my head in a door and slamming it a few times. And then after that, everything else hits the fan. "No Heroes" is really the only song on here that I can stand, with "To the Lions" making me contemplate suicide.

When I say repetitive, I'm referring to the first 5 tracks. It seems like they wrote it all as one song, and then cut it up at weird parts. But that's not just why I dislike this. If you noticed earlier, I mentioned how I think the vocalist ruins this. He irritates me to the point where I have to turn the song off. I think "Bare My Teeth" could've been awesome if the guy didn't suck so much.
I can handle repetitiveness in thrash because of the brutal aspect of it. Here, it just seems dead. This Message Edited On 12.28.06

edit: I believe this is far more "brutal" and at the same time way more "emotional" than thrash. But I'm going to stop before pixies gets all pissy we're fagging up his review.
Everyone's got different music that gets them pumped up or that they view as "brutal". I remember reading that while Bill Romo listened to heavy music, he listened to folk (or something like that...I forget) before game time to get his blood pumping. You can't really argue someone out of thinking that either. As the old saying goes, "to each his own."
