ShadowsFallen, are you planning on making the contents of the review match your rating any time soon?
My friends speak very highly of AILD, so I recently picked this up. I love 94 Hours, but haven't really heard anything else on it.

Overrated, yes. Bad, no way. The Incredible guitarwork and lightning fast double bass make for a very good time. I also think Tim has an incredible voice (although the earlier work that As I Lay Dying did was more interesting). I loved Frail Words Collapse and I don't think a week goes by without me at least listening to half of the cd. It's good stuff, in inspired me to try harder riffs. But I agree, they get a little too much buzz for how little they innovate the genre.

Behind Me Lies Another Fallen Soldier is one of the best on the album. Do not be deceived by his lies.

If this was Death Metal, I would've always had biased hatred towards the genre and would've ignored it...
Thank God it's not. This Message Edited On 07.29.06

whoever said as i lay dying is death metal does'nt know what they're talkin about if u want death metal listen to Bodom, Arch Enemy, Behemoth, Through The Eyes of The Dead, or Cannibal Corpse
AS I Lay Dying are'nt that bad i especially like the double bass breakdown in 94 hours that is pretty heavy
|
| |
Hahaha! Children of Bodom are death metal? And Through the Eyes of the Dead?
Boy, you really know your sh!t.
|
| |
k maybe Children Of Bodom are on the more melodic side of things they are hard to place but Through The Eyes of The Dead seem pretty death metal to me, they r definetly not metalcore

COB is power metal with death/black metal influences. There. I don't know TTEOTD so I can't place them.
edit: according to Sputnik TTEOTD is indeed metalcoreThis Message Edited On 08.01.06

Scream you have the ugliest f*ckin thingy for an avatar...
Seriously, I want to punt that little thing...

I don't like it that much either but i don't know what to change it to. So for now it stays. :P
|
| |
never woulda though they were metalcore
|

TtEotD are metalcore, CoB are power metal (or "extreme" power metal), Cannibal Corpse are grind (or death/grind) and Arch Enemy are melodeath. The only death metal band you mentioned was Behemoth, and they're borderline black metal. If you wanna mention typical, referential death metal bands, you should try something like Death (duh) or Bloodbath or something.
|
| |
TtEoTD = Melodic Death/Metalcore
Cannibal Corpse =Death Metal
Arch Enemy = Gothenburg
Death isn't a typical band for the most part, they were Progressive Death Metal.
Behemoth used to be Black Metal, but now they're Death Metal.
And I haven't heard Bloodbath.This Message Edited On 08.02.06

Ah a good old genre dispute, how I missed thee . No really I actually did.
Behemoth used to be Black Metal, but now they're Death Metal.
Lets call Behemoth Bleath metal than. Ok or not, it was worth a try. You watch in another few months it will be a hit.
