agree with jay this goes fuckin belt to ass production and all

Repented sounds like shit, no reason to listen to that version when the original exists.

Just me or are the drums a bit different in Pray For Plagues with a bit more groove added?
This sits with the Cavalera trilogy for re-recordings done right

I can see the spin kicks in my head now when that KILL EACHOTHER breakdown hits in Dehumanized
People are gonna die in the pit lol

Apparently they played tracks from This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For at tonight's show too. Any chance they'll revisit that one too? That EP was even more unhinged so might be tougher to do justice to.

it’s a valid point futures and ill try to articulate my pov
usually when bands put out a remaster/rerelease it feels like a blatant cash grab especially when the original had good production. in this case the og production was lacking plus the fact that they actually re-recorded everything and wrote a new song in the same vein makes it feel inspired and energetic
also the fact that the riffs are pretty intricate lends itself better to cleaner production than if say Darkthrone re-recorded transylvanian hunger
just my thoughts tho. my main gripe with this production is the snare but even this snare sounds better than the og

fair enough ins, appreciate your thoughts. just personally can't get on board, the overproduction just zaps the soul out of the album to me. it's just so artificial and plastic. to me the og is clearly imperfect but that is part of the charm and fun. myspace deathcore, teenagers creating pioneering shit out of their parent's basements. that rawer mix and even slightly sloppier playing really adds to it. now it's just unrecognizable to me and sounds like every other modern core bass booming computerized mix.

totally fair man. all i can say is try listening to in flames’ clayman re-recordings and this will sound like a masterpiece in comparison :p

"The drums sound like programmed midi drums to me this is wild"
Shitty programmed drums with machine gun 127 velocity at that. The drums are too damned loud!
"the atmosphere is completely ruined here"
100% factual. The production is totally wrong for this type of music. It's so fake sounding and sterile.

Hot take but this album was always pretty shit. A few cool riffs but absolutely 0 songwriting and garbage lyrics.
Dehumanized kinda fucks though.
|
| |
Last night was fucking incredible, they've put on a lot of stellar shows that's I've seen but that tops the loot and the bangers part of the set was perfect
|
| |
Checking out some footage and it looks like a really fun time.
I guess we can stop debating whether or not Oli can still bring it. On record is one thing, but from what I've looked at he kept his form through that whole show. Whatever work he's done on his voice since that mid-career low point has clearly worked for him.

Question: Did Curtis join them on stage at all

seems a bit of a missed opportunity they didn't get him in to record his parts on this tbh

The new shiny mix made me realize how poorly constructed these songs are. The singles on the renew were good. I’m not necessarily sold on the full re-release.
I do love the new song, dehumanized. Fucking sick. They should just drop a new heavy album

Yeah that's fair. I think most bands should focus on new material instead of trying to reframe their classic stuff. I'm struggling to think of a single instance of a remaster/re-recording being superior to the original.
|
| |
100% Like you said, hard pressed to find a remaster that is better.
This album did actually need it tho. If you listen to the original it’s amature.
I’m glad to see bmth at least acknowledge the heavy past. But I want them to lean into. They obviously can still do it as seen on “dehumanized”

I love this album when it first came out but over the years it became unlistenable due to how bad it sounded. The new coat of paint really bring this album back and the nostalgia. Really enjoying these songs again

If they were to release a new album in the vein of of this then I'm sure it would be pretty sick.
