Wildcardbitchess, you’re obviously a huge fan regardless but would you say Converge is your favorite band? Man, I love the passion, knowledge and astute analysis in your comments on converge in general.

I was ecstatic when that last bit of It Only Get Worse kicked in. I honestly prefer this to LINE. I think this one has more variety and more experimental

thanks man!

Probably! I have a few “favorite bands” any given day but typically would only say that about bands that are active… but considering Converge has remained pretty active literally my entire life I would say they’re at the top for sure haha

That’s a lot to say that if someone asked me point blank what my favorite band is I would for sure say Converge.

Yeah that’s about where I’m at with them too. Pretty hard to narrow down a “favorite” across all genres and stuff but in a pinch I just say them.

personally I just got converged out after ATF. And I was a HUGE converge fan, saw them in a mfing pub garden next to a bus station back in the day and watched them become the monster they are nowadays, but this is probably the most ive enjoyed a Converge record in some time

Yeah it was always Tool for me (truly grew up listening t ok them, saw the Sober video on Headbangers Ball in 6th grade, went out and bought Undertow and Opiate, became obsessed). Then Deftones, ATF came out when I was a freshman in high school I believe

But I used to see a bunch of tool shows, 9 or 10 on the Lateralus tour alone (their peak album and peak live shows), would take a bunch of psychedelics and felt such a close connection.

Over the years, Deftones have kind of slid on first and tool in second. Then I’d say Alice In Chains, soundgarden, older smashing pumpkins, brand new…honestly so many dude.

It sounds like they jammed a shit ton of Rolo Tomassi and then intentionally emulated them. I’ve never enjoyed the first four songs of a Converge album more. I haven’t heard last years album yet tho.

Last years album? You mean this years album? LINE came out in February (unless you’re referring to Rolo Tomassi, who I don’t follow — badass band name though, I love LA Confidential).

Alice In Chains was my favorite for a very long time, but like I said I try to keep it more to active bands. I know they’re technically “active” but we haven’t gotten a record in a decade and they’re definitely past their prime.

Like, I would’ve said Foxing in the same breath as Converge but I really try to keep to bands that are still together. I feel like any time I’m listening to a dead band I could be discovering something new and supporting a new band yknow

And I’m totally with botb on that, it’s extremely hard to narrow it down to just one across every fucking genre but Converge are just an easy one, esp now that they’re just casually dropping two incredible albums in a year

Almost every song on here beats every song on LINE for my taste. The one moment where LINE clearly beats this one is the closing track. I think We Were Never the Same is vastly superior to Nothing is Over and I kind of would have liked to see the closers switched between albums.

Also, this might be the best vocal performance Nate has ever given. Some moments actually shocked me how insane he sounds.
