Still my least favourite BOC though, did revisit twice recently, maybe one day that opinion shifts....

I could see this album being in league with Music and Geo. Those two are very special albums to me, but maybe in years to come Inferno will mean just as much. TH already almost does. I went from giving that a 2.5/5 at release to thinking it's one of the best albums ever a decade later. It functions a little differently as a BoC album, where it's about flow and headspace more than individual bangers. Altho ofc there are several songs that can be listened to in isolation, like Nothing Is Real, New Seeds, Jacquard Causeway, Cold Earth, Split Your Infinities. But generally a much better experience front to back.

to be fair, TH is their third best. putting anything else above the first two full lengths is crazy though.

I generally agree, but I've gotta see how this one settles over time. One of the reasons I love MHTRTC so much is because of how nostalgic it sounds. All of their albums are a bit nostalgic but that one especially is like a time capsule.

its just sort of lackluster compared to their other stuff. it feels like if you asked someone else to make a boards of canada record, thats what they would come up with.

no doubt there are great tracks on it, but its just kind of a "good record" and doesnt really feel as essential and singular as their other works.

adult swim put me on and growing up along to it, acid revelations and all, it was all that we had so before any pretenders formed up it definitely felt fresh and like a new direction

Campfire hits me the hardest. Idk, man. Again, this album feels pretty similar to CH in style, and I am a fan of that artistic decision.
