Hawks dude what did you get a promo or something?

Not that big of a fan of the production, but Randy sounds stellar here, has a bit of a darker tone. Blunt Force Blues goes pretty hard, so I guess I indeed have to check this once it drops.

I just listened to the singles again
They're really solid, but in no way are they even in the same universe as anything off of Ashes or Palaces. Those two will always be the GOATs

Don't really like this music but the lead singer posted a fucking based essay about the goings on in the good ol' USA .. they seem like they have their heads on straight.
|
| |
Get this person Ashes and Palaces pronto.

I anticipate that I'll be pleasantly surprised by this one but it won't displace anything in my top 3 or, shit, top 5
Palaces
Ashes

Palaces will always be their best imo.

Never liked Palaces as much as Ashes, and I'll be honest, the main reason is I just like more of the songs but the second reason is how bad Palaces sounds. I recently listened to the remastered version and it sounds equally as silly. Palaces with Ashes production would be incredible.

That's mainly Randy. The rest of the band shies away from making any sort of statements. Mark Morton is also a pretty died-in-the-wool VA redneck so I'm not confident he and Randy share the same sentiments at all.
But, dude, check out As the Palaces Burn and Ashes of the Wake if you can. Superb groove metal.
@JoshD, the remaster is a strange animal. You can tell the tapes from the original recordings were totally fucked since the remaster is fighting for its fucking life to make it sound any better. I'd kill for a re-record of the whole thing.

I felt the same way about the Palaces mix until recently. It really grew on me for some reason and I honestly love how it sounds. Riffs the absolute hardest out of any of their albums too.

Hawks dude what did you get a promo or something?
Yes bro!
|
| |
Palaces is my #1, but Ashes is like one centimeter behind it. They're both classics.
And weirdly enough, I actually love how dirty and gross the original recording of Palaces sounds, even if the bandmates and Devin themselves hate it.
New production sounds better on some songs, but there are some songs where it loses the grimy factor for me.

Idk bro, this is pretty grimy to me tbh. Not production-wise, but riff-wise.

Oh I was talking about the new Palaces version they released, but yeah this is def less clean than Ashes
|
| |
I usually like cleaner productions, but that raw sound on Palaces actually works really well for it

Lamb of God 2003 As The Palaces Burn
Machine Head 2003 Through the Ashes of Empires
Lamb of God 2004 Ashes of the Wake
Machine Head 2007 The Blackening
A lot of burning by these 2 bands at the time

I gotta get more into Machine Head, have only heard one of their albums.
|
| |
It's not just the more grimy sound of Palaces, it's also quiet and lacks any sort of punch or power.

Wait, what are we talking about now??? Lol
