yeah, I'm digging this for sure

it definitely leans a little more towards the dissonant side than Duality, whilst retaining the weirdness (which is fine, cos we have Duality already). I guess they've always played around ways of creating 'distance' and then pulling you in unexpectedly with some hook outta leftfield.

currently 3rd, after Duality & Sire, but there's time...

Those 1950s alien movie laserbeam guitar lines in Rigor & Wraith are absolutely wild.

This was a great listen. Love how they balance out the dissonance and melodic songs.

Honestly for as eccentric as this band can be I feel like if I had to pin down a distinctive bit of their own that's instantly identifiable it has to be the freaky as fuck layered demon vox they love to whip out lol

Segments of this album actually make me think there's some chimeric abomination slithering from my walls

I feel like if you stay on this site long enough, the metal eventually consumes you

the illusion of choice where there isn't any

one of us, one of us etc.

I always thought hitting 1000 metal ratings on RYM would make me feel like I have my 'metal stripes'

Now I'm thinking maybe 2000-2500? (currently on 1405 metal ratings)

yeah, but you have too many ratings, ratios might be a better indicator!

...not entirely sure how to check this, did you manually tag them all as 'metal'?

'did you manually tag them all as 'metal' - yeah, I manually tag metal, hip hop, electronic and country

As a ratio of all my ratings metal is 11% which is higher than electronic (10%), country (8%) and hip hop (5%)

I guess if you put 'rock' (which I don't tag as too general) and 'metal' together it'd be about 25%.

LastFM might be a better indicator...I'm definitely listening to more metal than I used to according to LastFM

Cool. I've been very lazy with my utilisation of RYM thus far. Pretty much just rate things, add (hopefully) upcoming 'checks' / releases to my wishlist and that almost covers my existence over there.

I need to up my game.
