just on a creative level AE is untouchable, the avant garde dissonance of Aint It Funny, the post-punk nature of Golddust, the stumbling drums of Downward Spiral that literally sounds like being piss-drunk in the morning on an empty stomach, but I love XXX too.

AE is like his least creative album. It's like a less interesting version of XXX. That's my opinion anyway. I feel like AE isn't some great leap above his other work and it's weird that that has become the de facto objective truth that most danny brown discourse revolves around. I just don't agree. It's a great album but it doesn't define good whole career.
