Husbands and Long Island are the standout songs on here for me. Been in my rotation since I heard this. No idea wtf he is talking about though lol

"No idea wtf he is talking about though lol"
he's really good at writing lyrics that might not literally make sense but are very evocative and well phrased. I like that style a lot when mixed with someone who has the cadence to convey it convincingly (which he definitely does)

Yeah I've got nothing against abstract lyrics I just wasn't sure if I was missing context or something.

yeah, his cadence feels so deliberately consistent and it works really well. this is probs exactly a 3.8.

Islands of Men is incredible
They were very good live too

you really gotta give Geese credit for making rock music cool again in 2025. and doing it by just being authentically goofy and weird

Can’t believe I didn’t notice this before but this is basically just the Boredoms Vision Creation Newsun album cover with a pistol and a trumpet

Seems to be a common comparison that the vocals on this are like Thom Yorke's, but it's like this guy does the kind of warbling vocalising that Yorke does for intense crescendos but turns it on all the time. I find it a bit exhausting to listen for the duration of the album

Man Taxes is such a jam! It's been a while since I've heard anything as good as this album.
The vocals remind me more of Car Seat Headrest and a little bit of like Wu Lyf and Cymbals Eat Guitars and stuff like that.

Honestly don't see the Thom Yorke comparison, except superficially during falsetto passages. The two singers do something entirely different from each other. The main difference is that Cameron has BALLS

do I check this out or skip this band? i'm feeling skip for some reason

to me it's one of the most iconic vocal performances of the decade sooo

I don't get the hype about this album. Not much here Polvo or some of those Elephant 6 bands didn't do, and do better. I mean, this is fine, but I can't see it being generational.

The joy of keeping up with current indie is watching the youngsters rediscover things over and over and over again
