Over the halfway mark listening now and I can confidently say this album slaps. God of Black Blood earns the 4.5 all on its own.

Their last album reminded me a lot of Dissection which i took as a positive. This one feels like Dissection and Agalloch and that's even better.

Finally listened to this, great stuff as in a no-brainer 3.5+, but I'm not a fan of the (compressed?) guitar sound, whereas I agree that musically the album does not break new ground.
Sound work is somewhat lacking, especially when considering analogous outfits like Havukruunu which have killed it this year, sound-production-wise.

Great drums and vox, but the guitar solos are anticlimactic. Just the riffs please.

Terrible cover btw. I know a person who makes similar “art”, I always try to be polite and avoid crushing his ego by just saying hmm-hmm, but even that’s a lie.

Dunno, maybe it’s just too much purple with the deer and the rider and the eagles and the moon, I really dunno.

Reminds me at times of Agalloch and Enslaved. That being said, it is very unique in its own right. Glad to have a new album to listen to.
