Love you JT, but this doesn't rival Discipline, Larks, Red, ICOTCK, or Lizard.

It sucks, they could've made something really new and incredible to follow up In The Court. And I really do like this album, but you've gotta admit, all this is is just a carbon copy of their last album.

This isn't exactly a carbon copy of their debut. Yes there are strong similarities with Pictures of a City being the equivalent of 21st Century Schizoid Man and the title track being this album's version of Epitaph etc. But the album does have the three part 'Peace' which provides a recurring theme through the album and the completely different improv track The Devil's Triangle, both of which help separate this album from their debut. Plus there's Cat Food which really doesn't sound much like anything from ITCOTCK. Also, there are moments on here which are actually better than parts of their debut (The Devil's Triangle > Moonchild for example).

Yeah, it does have a few differences from the original (Cat Food, Peace, Devil's Triangle), and yes, a few parts of the album might be better than In The Court. I don't disagree with that. But I do see a lot of parallels to not only the songs themselves, but to the song structures and to the structure of both albums as a whole. For example, both albums start off with a heavier jazzy track, seguing into a soft, pretty song, which goes into a powerful, sad song, etc etc. Anyway, maybe "carbon copy" is a strong statement, but I'm just saying that. for as innovative and wildly original as their previous album was, it's a bit of a disappointment.

Yeah the most obvious similarity between the two is indeed the structure of the first half of the album (Pictures, Cadence and the title track).
For me though, the quality of the album speaks for itself. I enjoy this as much as ITCOTCK and have therefore rated it accordingly. I personally think it gets too much hate, everyone says this is weak because it's too similar to their first album but I really don't see that as too much of a negative as this is a really good album, even if it doesn't show much in the way of musical 'progression'. The band would show plenty of progression on subsequent releases so I have no problem just taking this album for what it is.

Yeah, a lot of it does come down to simply personal preference. Personally, I generally don't find this album to be quite up to par or as memorable as ITCOTCK, but that's just me. And again, it's still a good album; in fact, it should probably be a 3.5 instead of a 3.
