tbh, i never really focus on lyrics like that in metal, didn't know Katatonia was on the "hail satan" type of vibe and Ive been listening to them forever

This wasn’t as immediate as Sky Void but is solid modern Katatonia

Did not have giving a new Katatonia album a 2.0 on my 2025 bingo card but here we are.
Band's been downhill since DEK.

@Cageofman
What do you mean? He literally says Hail Satan in the chorus of Wind Of No Change.
|
| |
Album Rating: 2.5
He says it 3 times and its more cringe every time he says it through the song.
They had a good run. I absolutely love Dead End Kings through City Burials. Big catchy hooks with great atmosphere all throughout those albums.

Katatonia's best hail Satan song is Without God, unquestionably

The hail satan line though isnt him promoting or endorsing satanism though.
its not like some cheesy 80's or deicide-like all hail satan mantra.
Thats what jizzinmypants line on the first above didn't know Katatonia was on the "hail satan" type of vibe is meaning - bands like deicide or openly santanic bands.
Thats not what the line in this song is about AT ALL.
Firstly, He's referencing others proclaiming it.
I think the strong reaction to the phrase from meant is born out of an initial misunderstanding of its intent and purpose.
It might be used in the song a little bluntly and not very subtle, but i think in his critique of society or whatever it is hes stating demonstrates a wind of no change, he wanted to reference evil, or lack of faith or conviction, whatever its symbolic nature is, but has openly said he went direct as an ode to the 80's metal bands he used to love who used such cheesy lines, but in this song it isnt used to carry the same message, a promotion of satanism etc.
Its more metaphorical.

Returned to this. I like it more. It’s a Katatonia album. It has the signature tone , song structures, Jonas voice, the minimal electronics that create their mini-wall of sound. It’s all there. The songs are different and memorable from each other. It’s their formula that they’ve used for the better part of 20 years and it works. Why change?

I like it better than the last couple of releases but that isn't saying much tbh

Best I can do is a 2... maaaybe a 2.5

Wind of No Change... wtf is this Ghost shit lmao

Sounds nothing like Ghost. Been jamming the new Ghost a fair bit too.
@swaggybeef Persevere! It honestly is so not dull, it just takes a lot of time for its colours to shine through.
Like teamster said, its all there, everything they've been doing last 5 albums, and i think its better then SVOS.

Idk this is pretty cool to me so far. Looking like at least 3 maybe 3.5 by record's end if it doesn't get stale.

I don't know what the hell is this (rate of an album is 3?). Is this hate on band due to Anders was fired (or leaves)? What the heck? This album is best since at least Fall of Hearts! And it reminds me of FOH|DEK|NITND time after time, which is beautiful! Track like Liquide Eye, Lilac, Temporal, Efter Solen and In The Event of are just instatnt Classic Katatonia!
I don't get all the hate on this album Oo
And btw it is also WAY better than SVOS! But SVOS has 3.6 and NAEOTWS only 3??? C'mon!
