Gaga album is excellent and her best in a longtime, but I think Miley is comfortably wearing the crown for now. Plenty of year left though

I’ll have to check it out, and wow a fantano review I completely agree with. I guess for the most part when it comes to pop I generally think he’s got a lot of good takes

My wife played some of it this weekend. Definitely a mature pop album from Miley. Not aligned with my tastes at all but it certainly possesses more intelligence than most modern pop at this point.

Easy Lover is the one. goddamn what a tune

yeah this is great. think I prefer the first half to the dancier stuff on the second but Walk of Fame is a triumph

“yeah this is great. think I prefer the first half to the dancier stuff on the second but Walk of Fame is a triumph”
Pretty much my exact thoughts. There’s a few tracks in the middle that feel very cookie cutter but man, the title track and Walk of Fame are two of the best songs of the year. The title track has just those walls of noise that I’ve never heard done in a “pop” song. I don’t even know how to describe it.

dang, surprised to see some people thinking this has the edge over Gaga's newest for the crown of 2025's superstar-est pop. to me Mayhem's the night and day winner on initial impact and overall replay value. this is still enjoyable and definitely has an element of surprise in its favor but I'm finding it kinda thin on re-listens

Gaga's a wonderful return to form and has plenty of bangers but this just feels more fresh and exciting to me

The flow of this album is insane. No weak spots for me. Even the interludes rule.

She’s doing a lot better now for sure. I hope she doesn’t see this as a failure when it’s literally the best thing she’s ever done.
I really fucking dig this record… the title track really might me my soty for real

What the fuck
This is fantastic
T/T, Easy Lover and Pretend You're God are seriously top tier. Thought Gaga had it wrapped up this year but there's an honest contender now.

I know this is the go-to line with coping pop stars, but it genuinely doesn't seem like Miley cares about being a commercial juggernaut (though, I was actually shocked to see that Plastic Hearts is the best-selling "rock" album of the 2020's lol). I was worried that Eternal Summer Vacation signaled a change in her perspective with how boilerplate and wide-appealing it was, but it seems like she just wants to perform and make whatever she wants.
She was gonna tour for this album and then Harrison Ford asked her why she would do that, and it made her realize that she actually hates touring so she scrapped it lol I'm optimistic that she continues to grow as an artist and stay true to a vision.
