I’m sure I’ll get more toilet talk from this, but I think the band does a really good job of building up their sound and even though some of the lyrics in certain songs sound simple, the way Vessel pronounces them makes it more impactful. I’ve never had an issue with Vessel’s voice. I think it’s unique and something I haven’t really heard before.
I know I know “sleep token sucks, blah blah blah, poop nuggets.”

Yea i'm on the same wavelength, I really dig this voice. But i can see how some people have a hard time with it. There is probably a way better way to describe his voice but it has like a choir/opera esque feel to it, probably with a bend of pop-punk/emo vocals? Idk it's distinct for sure, definitely something the sputnik crowd would hate, and the rapping vocal melodies probably don't help either but I enjoy them.
I'm probably not helping my defense of this album, oh well lol.

my gripe is it feels put on a bit, perhaps artificially deepened? I already have a harder time with lower-toned voices so TRYING to sound low is a hard sell
the "go ahead and wrap your arms around me" on emergence sounds like he sang it higher and pitched it down to make it sound more deep

I for sure think it is. Recently listened to One for the first time, and damn his voice sounds so different on that. A lot higher.
But IDM that part on emergence because the whole thing is so blatantly modified that it can't be anything other than an artistic choice in my eyes (ears?).

I haven’t seen them live yet, but I’ve seen a lot of videos online where Vessel sounds just a good, if not better. I don’t sense anything artificial. I’ll know for sure when I see them in September in New York.

oh man i tried to grab tickets for that NY show but that sold out so fast, havent checked im guessing the ones left are overpried resales. have fun!
Also on a side note with some of the criticisms i've seen about how "serious" they are, the videos i've seen of them live, they definitely have moments where they're are being absolute goofballs.
