they also need to not work with outside pop collaborators because a dude aaron met through his nashville second job is apparently all over this album and the reason its so sickeningly poppy half of the time lmao. the heavy side of this album shows theyre pretty capable if they stay in house but like bruh

Idc if they have popcore choruses but the choruses from 04-10 were better than anything here

The choruses on TOCS are so of my fav ever. I don't have a problem with poppy choruses, I have a problem with garbage lol.

It was more endearing then cuz they were blending pop with non-mainstream sounds for the time period. Now the script has flipped 180 and they are chasing pop aesthetics that don't enhance the music

Its definitely far from their peak so I get it, I just still enjoy this somehow lol, my biggest gripe is them completely doing away with any sort of longer build to anything. Everything's so immediate and I always liked their longer drawn out stuff the most, this many sub 3 minute tracks is a definite downgrade

Emo Underoath is better

I had the priveledge of seeing them perform "Generation: No Surrender" live for the first time at their Chicago show after they finished ripping through They're Only Chasing Safety and after hearing it live, I promised myself that I wouldn't ever subject my ears to this record whenever it came out.

I say this as a long time Underoath fan. This is straight up cookie cutter, boring tried and true, put me to sleep generic over produced metal garbage. Absolutely a waste of 36 minutes...
