oh there's a track titled "night terror"? I expect some rawr from portnoy and the band being adorable trying to be heavy again

No Portnoy growls, thankfully. Just a straightforward, solid track

Oh my god the keyboard on Night Terror is horrendous. What is that? Thank goodness for Portnoy and Petrucci because they carry this album.

I'd really like to know what this band would sound like with an actual good singer and not the hack that is LaBrie

Good to see some of you digging this though

I was torn between a 3 and 3.5. This certainly ain't a bad album but I found myself getting kinda boted with it. Perhaps it's because I've been a fan for long enough that I find myself getting easily burnt out on their music at this point and don't listen to them much anymore. To my surprise, Labrie actually sounds pretty good with the extra effects and harmonies. Standouts for me are Dead Asleep, Bend the Clock, and Shadow Man Incident.

A few listens in and now i'm randomly saying "midnight messsiah!" out loud whilst going about my day. Nothing too crazy but better than anticipated.

Oh shit! Starting my listen now... didn't care much for the singles that came out but maybe as a whole it'll be great.

@Omair

I'm not impressed after one listen. It sounds just as fresh as DoT and A View. I would never even know this was Portnoy, honestly. But it isn't bad by any means. There weren't any cringe moments either. I was pleasantly surprised that Bend The Clock was on the softer side as I thought that would be a wonky instrumental (based on song title only) type song where they display their chops. It's my favorite song after one listen.

Ok The Shadow Man Incident was pretty great after a first listen. I've listened to it a few times now and it clicks more everytime. Insane song!

Last two tracks definitely the highlights on this holy shit.
